Dean Zimmerman

Dean Zimmerman is Professor of Philosophy at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His main areas of research are in metaphysics and the philosophy of religion. He is writing an introduction to the philosophy of religion for the series Princeton Foundations of Philosophy (Princeton University Press); a book on the persistence of material objects and persons (Oxford University Press), and papers on surviving death, the idea that God is "outside of time," and the question of whether nomic necessity might be necessity in the strongest sense (as Sydney Shoemaker contends).

He is the author and editor of many books, including Metaphysics: The Big Questions (1998), The Oxford Handbook of Metaphysics (2003), Persons: Human and Divine (2007), Contemporary Debates in Metaphysics (2008), and the Oxford Studies in Metaphysics series.
