J. Todd Billings

Gordon H. Girod Research Professor of Reformed Theology

Dr. J. Todd Billings (M.Div, Fuller Seminary, Th.D, Harvard University Divinity School) is the Gordon H. Girod Research Professor of Reformed Theology at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI. His areas of study include Reformed theology, the sacraments, salvation, and theological hermeneutics. Dr. Billings is an ordained minister in the Reformed Church in America and author of several books, including his most recent, Rejoicing in Lament: Wrestling with Incurable Cancer and Life in Christ—a theological reflection on providence and lament in light of his cancer diagnosis in 2012 (Brazos Press, 2015); and Remembrance, Communion, and Hope: Rediscovering the Gospel at the Lord’s Table (Eerdmans, 2018)—a decade-long study of exploring the heart of the gospel through renewing the theology and practice of the Lord’s Supper.
